PART 1
The laughter disappeared instantly.
Victoria Hayes froze while holding the package.
The elderly doctor hurried toward Ryan Parker.
The doctor carefully took the box from Victoria Hayes’ hands and inspected every corner.
After a few tense seconds, the doctor let out a relieved breath.
“The equipment is still safe.”
Victoria Hayes frowned.
“What medical equipment?”
The doctor looked directly at Victoria Hayes.
“Your father suffered a sudden heart condition this morning. The hospital arranged for a portable cardiac support device to be delivered immediately because the replacement unit inside the mansion failed.”
Ryan Parker quietly spoke.
“I tried to explain.”
Victoria Hayes slowly lowered Victoria Hayes’ eyes.
Ryan Parker continued,
“I rode through heavy rain for almost an hour because the ambulance team said every minute mattered.”
The guests began whispering.
One elderly neighbor quietly admitted,
“I saw this young man protecting the package with his own body when he fell from his motorcycle outside the gate.”
Victoria Hayes’ face turned pale.
“I… I thought it was only a birthday gift.”
PART 2
The doctor carefully carried the equipment inside the mansion.
Only a few minutes later, the emergency device was connected successfully.
Mr. Hayes’ condition stabilized.
The entire family finally breathed with relief.
Victoria Hayes slowly walked back outside.
Ryan Parker was still standing near the gate, gently rubbing the red mark left on Ryan Parker’s cheek.
Victoria Hayes lowered Victoria Hayes’ head.
“Ryan Parker… I’m deeply sorry.”
Ryan Parker smiled politely.
“I understand you were worried about your father.”
Victoria Hayes quietly replied,
“That is no excuse for treating someone with disrespect.”
Ryan Parker nodded.
“I hope the next delivery driver who arrives wearing dirty shoes and an old jacket is welcomed before being judged.”
Several guests looked away in shame.
One by one, they apologized to Ryan Parker for laughing instead of listening.
Mr. Hayes was later wheeled outside in a wheelchair.
The elderly man smiled warmly.
“You didn’t just deliver a package today.”
Mr. Hayes reached out and shook Ryan Parker’s hand.
“You delivered more time for my family.”
The guests began applauding.
Victoria Hayes turned toward everyone gathered near the entrance.
“Today we judged a hardworking man by dusty shoes, patched clothes, and a delivery uniform.”
Ryan Parker quietly picked up the empty delivery backpack.
Without asking for anything in return, Ryan Parker simply smiled and walked toward Ryan Parker’s motorcycle.
That afternoon, nobody remembered the expensive birthday decorations.
Everyone remembered the exhausted delivery driver in the faded orange jacket who was treated like a nuisance—until everyone realized he had carried something far more valuable than any birthday present.
